Services for Young People

We have a sensitive and confidential approach with young people.

If you have any concerns relating to your health, please arrange an appointment with the Practice Nurse or one of the Doctors.

Sexual Health Services

Sexual Health Services are provided by the South Staffordshire Sexual Health Service.

Practice Services

In addition to the Essential Services provided by the practice, the practice also provides the following additional services:

  • Childhood Vaccinations and Immunisations
  • Flu, Covid and Pneumococcal Immunisations
  • HPV Immunisations
  • Minor Surgery
  • Shingles Injections
  • Travel Injections (some may be subject to a fee)
  • Yellow Fever (subject to a fee)
  • Neonatal Examinations
  • Post Natal Examinations

In addition, community physiotherapy, chiropody and occupational therapy can be arranged locally by the Doctors.

Practice Pharmacist

Our Practice Pharmacist can deal with medication queries, medication reviews, minor ailments and long term condition reviews. You may therefore be offered an appointment to see our Practice Pharmacist is this is appropriate.

Practice Nursing Services

Our practice nurses are fully qualified to carry out the following nurse led health promotion clinics:

  • Advice on Diet
  • Blood Pressure checks
  • Chronic Disease Checks
  • Disease Management (Asthma, Diabetes, Heart Disease)
  • First aid advice, Blood and Urine Tests
  • Ear syringing
  • Adult and Childhood Immunisations (these are arranged by the Practice)
  • Travel Immunisations
  • Cervical Smears and Contraception Services
  • Family Planning
  • Health Promotion, for example dietary advice and advice on smoking
  • Spirometry (lung function tests)
  • New Patient Screening

Healthcare Assistant

Our Healthcare Assistant supports the Nurses and the Practice by providing a phlebotomy service (talking blood samples) for testing. She is also responsible for running our health check clinic that enables us to identify and then initiate preventative measures to help reduce the risk to those patients who may otherwise develop illnesses in the future.

District Nurses

The District Nurse is available to see you in your home and help with dressings and removal of sutures, advice and care of the acutely and chronically sick and terminally ill and advice on incontinence and supplying pads and other aids.

A referral is required for an appointment with the district nurses.

They are available to help with health matters relating to the under-5s eg. feeding difficulties, sleep problems.

Health Visiting Hub for Cannock and Lichfield

If you need help and advice from a health visitor for common issues such as minor illness, behaviour and weaning telephone Cannock and Lichfields Health visiting hub 01543 431586.

Community Midwives

The Community Midwives provide an antenatal clinic at the surgeries. The Practice shares antenatal care with the local consultant obstetricians.

Clinics are held at the practice and appointments are arranged by the midwives.

Community Psychiatric Nurse

The Community Psychiatric Nurse provides a counselling Service at the surgery by appointment. Patients will need to be referred to this through one of the GPs.

Psychology Counselling

A counselling service is provided at the surgery by appointment. Patients will need to be referred by the doctor.

NHS eReferral Service

If you have been referred to a specialist through the NHS eReferral Service, booking your appointment online is easy, safe and secure.

You will need your:

  • Booking reference number
  • Password or access code

Mental Health Practitioner

Mental Health Practitioners are experienced mental health staff with expertise in the assessment and management of mental health conditions. The role of Mental Health Practitioners is to assess people’s needs, provide advice and guidance and support access to appropriate services if required.

Health Promotion and Well Person Checks

Both practices are actively engaged in health promotion.

In particular we can arrange; primary prevention e.g., advice on smoking, diet and exercise and immunisations both adult and childhood; screening, for example blood pressure checks, cholesterol estimations, cervical smears, travel advice and vaccines etc.

Contraception

Family Planning Advice, Implants and treatment is available with the Doctor or the Practice Nurse.
